Luke Barr, Ian Grum Scratch 200 IM Final on Day 5 at U.S. Junior Nationals

2019 USA Swimming Speedo Junior National Championships

Day 5 Finals heat sheets

It’s the final day of racing at 2019 Speedo Junior Nationals and pretty much everyone who swam in prelims will be there for finals. In the women’s meet, there are no new scratches. We already reported that #1 seed Kaitlynn Sims of Magnolia Aquatic Club would not be swimming in the fastest heat of the 1500 free, and no one opted out of the 200 IM or the 50 free finals.

In the men’s meet, Luke Barr from Sarpy County Swim Club scratched the B final of the 200 IM. He’d been 2:06.63, a lifetime best by 1.3 seconds, in prelims to land the 16th spot for finals. Upper Valley Aquatic Club’s Jack Wadsworth (tied for 17th with 2:06.67) will move into the B final. Ian Grum and Quinn Harron from Dynamo Swim Club gave up their spots in the C final. Grum went 2:06.77 (a PB by half a second) in prelims for the 19th spot while Harron was 2:07.16 (a PB by 3 seconds). Moving up to take the two open lanes in the C final will be Hunter Locher of Nova of Virginia (26th with 2:07.19) and Matthew Jensen from Upper Dublin (27th with 2.07.22).

Sierra Marlins Swim Team’s Finn O’Haimhirgin gave up his spot in the C final of the 50 free. He had placed 22nd in the morning heats with 23.71, a PB by .07. Moving up to lane 8 will be Trace Wall of Nation’s Capital Swim Club, who finished 25th in heats with 23.75.
