CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Fighting Illini swimming and diving team has released its 2019-20 schedule. which features three meets in home waters at the ARC Pool. The new campaign will begin with the annual Orange & Blue Intra-Squad meet on Saturday, September 29, and is highlighted by a trip to Miami, Fla. to take on Florida International University and the University of Miami.
“We have some really strong non-conference opponents this season. We will see some very competitive teams, including Florida International and Notre Dame,” head coach Sue Novitsky said. “With a majority of underclassmen on the team, the travel and some multi-day meets will be great for our preparations for the championship season. The Big Ten teams on the schedule are always highly competitive meets. The strength of the Big Ten really enforces the importance of taking advantage of every event to help prepare for the championships at the end of the season.”
Schedule Notes:
- Home opener set for Friday, October 11 versus Indiana State University
- Dual meets against five Illinois schools, including Northwestern, UIC, University of Chicago, ISU and SIU
- UI will travel to Miami, Fla. to face off against Florida International University and the University of Miami
- The Illini will compete at the three-day House of Champions Invitational, hosted by IUPUI, for a second-straight year
- NCAA Championships will be held in Athens, Ga., from March 18-21
