Jamie Morgan of Katy, Texas Commits to University of Idaho

Jamie Morgan from suburban Houston, Texas has verbally committed to the University of Idaho, where she’ll begin her college career in the fall of 2020. Morgan is currently beginning her senior season at Katy High School and with the KATY Aquatics club program.

I choose Idaho because me and the team instantly connected and I knew that it was the place for me. Plus I could see myself with all of the other recruits going there, and it will give me a lot of opportunity to still do what I love.

In addition to her in-the-pool endeavors, Morgan is the senior athlete representative for the Gulf Swimming LSC and is planning to join the USA Swimming Open Water National Committee.

In the water, Morgan is primarily a butterflier and distance freestyler who has raced at Open Water Nationals 4 times. At the 2019 Southern Zone Open Water Championships, she placed 23rd in the women’s 5km race. She holds the KATY Aquatics team record in the girls’ 13-14 1500 meter free as well (18:31.57).

• 1000 free – 10:47.78
• 1650 free – 17:58.68
• 100 fly – 58.61
• 200 fly – 2:09.41
• 200 IM – 2:11.19
• 400 IM – 4:38.75

Among Idaho’s times from the 2018-2019 season, she would have ranked 4th among Idaho swimmers in the 500 free, 3rd in the 1000 free, 3rd in the 1650 free, and 4th in the 200 fly. Her best times put her outside of scoring B-final times at the WAC Championships, where Idaho was 5th out of 8 teams. Her closest time to scoring is the 200 fly, where she’d need a 1.7 second drop based on last year’s WAC results.
