PULLMAN, Wash. – The Nevada swim team opened its season in the swim only relay meet against Washington State, San Diego State and Idaho on Friday evening. The Pack took the win with 182 points; San Diego State posted 144, Washington State with 78 and Idaho had 36.
The meet saw six newcomers make their Nevada career debut along with the Pack recording seven relay event wins out of the ten that were held.
Benedict Nagy and Colette Berkenfield both started in the Nevada B relay of the 3×50 backstroke, finishing sixth with a time of 1:20.86. Nicolette Jasko, Valerie Kitchens along with transfers Gianni Pitto and Ileah Doctor all saw debuts in the 3×50 breaststroke. Kitchens, Pitto and Doctor made up the B relay squad that finished third with a time of 1:30.26.
Nevada started the domino effect of winning after securing the 3×50 breaststroke behind veterans Donna dePolo, Mikayla Dance and Wiktoria Samula. Following that relay, the Pack came out on top in the 800 free relay, 500 free relay, 400 medley, 200 free, 400 yard medley and the 400 free.

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Aztec swim and dive team took second place in a relay meet at Washington State Friday evening, going up against the Cougars, Nevada and Idaho. The Aztecs took first in three of the 10 events and placed second in the remaining seven.
SDSU finished with 144 points, coming in behind Nevada’s 182 points, but ahead of WSU (78) and Idaho (36). The Aztecs won the 150 yard butterfly relay, the 150 yard backstroke relay and the 1,200 yard freestyle relay.
Two of thee Aztecs three victories came in the meet’s first two races. The Thormalm sisters teamed up with Riley Tapley to finish the 150 yard butterfly in 1:15.36 to earn SDSU 14 points out of the gate.
In the second race, Tapley and Alma Thormalm teamed with Elli Ferrin to win the 150 backstroke relay with a time of 1:17.33. The trio of Evonne Stehr, Kassidy Henson and Peyton Wilson took third in the event, hitting the wall in 1:19.56.
The other SDSU victory came in the 3×400 yard freestyle, where McKenna Meyer, Mia Ryan and Milena Karpisz finished in 12:12.84, nearly five seconds ahead of their nearest competition.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State opened the season hosting a relay meet against Nevada, San Diego State and Idaho at Gibb Pool Friday night.
WSU saw all eleven newcomers made their Cougar debuts and finished third as a team after recording five third-place finishes out of the ten events.
“The girls came out with great energy as the meet started and I liked how the girls competed against the top two teams in the Mountain West,” head coach Matt Leach said. “We need to continue to get better every day, and keep working on the little things and come ready to compete Saturday.”

PULLMAN, Wash. – Idaho women’s swimming and diving got its first taste of head-to-head team competition Friday, at the WSU Relays hosted by Washington State. The meet, featuring the host Cougars, Nevada and San Diego State, consisted of 10 relay events. The Vandals finished fourth in the team standings, which took into account scoring from the top six finishing teams in each race.
Idaho’s top team finished ahead of Washington State’s top team in each of the first three events. Sophomore Katie Hale swam on two of those relay teams, leading off the 3×50-yard butterfly and anchoring the 3×50-yard backstroke. Another highlight saw freshman Alexa Teneyck led off Idaho’s 800-yard freestyle relay with a 1:58.42 split in the 200 freestyle.
Nevada won the team event, beating out fellow Mountain West foe San Diego State. Both checked in ahead of the Cougars.
