Air Force’s Maile, Peltier Sweep Mountain West Weekly Women’s Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force Academy women’s swimming & diving freshmen Sefilina Maile and Gabby Peltier, were named the Mountain West Conference swimmier and diver of the week, respectively, the Conference announced Tuesday, Oct. 8. It is the first weekly honor for the Falcons this season and the first of their respective careers.

Both Maile and Peltier made their Falcon dual debuts this past weekend at the Intermountain Shooutout in Grand Junction, Colo. Both played a big part in helping the Falcons to a commanding 233-160 win over host Colorado Mesa.

Maile had two individual event wins on the weekend in action against both CMU and BYU. She took gold in the 100 free (51.95) and 100 fly (56.81). She also placed second in the 50 free (23.90), while taking third in the 200 free (1:53.67). Finally, she was a part of two relays that finished runner-up, the 200 medley and 200 free.

On the diving board, Peltier had a pair of top-three finishes at the
Intermountain Shootout. In the 3-meter, she was the runner-up, while in the 1-meter, she took bronze.

The Falcon swimmers will be back in action this weekend when they head to Texas for the Rice Invitational. The two-day event in Houston will take place throughout the day, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 11-12.
