The defending champs sit #1 in both the women’s and men’s preseason CSCAA (College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America) polls, but maybe the biggest change from last year are the Virginia women all the way up to #2.

How did arizona women receive votes???
While UVA’s men swam well in the Trojan Invite, they will be coming back to earth soon. Top 10 is still the goal.
The women, on the other hand, shall stay right near the top all Season.
Agreed. Women at 2 is reasonable. If it was based solely on swims this past weekend, they would be #1. Men did answer their biggest question which was replacing the Fly times from Keblish on their Medley Relays and I think Wozencraft answered that one. Most of their preseason power ranking (the one that predicts mostly NCAA finish) was based on those relays scoring as well or better than last year, and Fly was the biggest question mark. They have not shown the depth yet to be a good conference team or to challenge for that title, but they have enough top end talent to be near top 5 at NCAAs or to win most dual meets. On the women’s side, 2nd is a very reasonable ranking, especially after seeing the results from the trojan invite. Many expect them to finish 2nd or 3rd this season.
For the men, I’ll admit 4th is a bit of a stretch, I would say 5th or 6th is much more likely.

I’m curious whether these rankings are truly pre-season, or if at least some of the voters are taking early season results into account.
I would bet both. Stanford is tops but they havent swum yet (women) and same with Texas, they have not swum yet either, UVA and Notre Dame are high on men’s side from what they have done already… so its a mix of both.
