Five teams from four different major conferences convened in Greensboro for the 2019 NC State Fall Invitational. Representing the ACC was NC State and Duke University, from the SEC was Auburn University, from the Pac-12 was Arizona State University, and from the Big Ten was the University of Wisconsin. With the exception of NC State and Duke, most of these teams only race each other once per season: at the NCAA Championships.

SwimSwam spoke with the head coach from each program to get their perspectives on the meet and hear what they thought about racing teams they don’t normally see until the end of the season. For those less familiar with the coaches, here is a list of which program each belongs to:

I think every coach from top 25 teams should get a video interview, talking about the invite and where their team’s at. This is a time when we don’t know who’s rested or shaved, It will give fans more insight. Maybe ask more specific questions about the upcoming championship season as well

Where did the articles about the Tennessee invite go? Seems like a much faster meet with Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia and Virginia there?

Swimming is a sport that is often marginalized by other sports, especially for the men. Diving is often marginalized even more. Kudos to Yuri for talking diving first. Loved this meet with everyone together and cheering on the divers during a swim break.
