Breaststroker Emily Ward (2020) Verbally Commits to Washington State

High school senior Emily Ward from Auburn, Washington has verbally committed to swim for Washington State University beginning in the 2020-21 school year. She will suit up with Hailey Grotte, Payten Irwin, and Ula McPherson in the class of 2024. Ward is a member of Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club where she is a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 100 breast. At this summer’s Pacific Northwest Swimming LSC Senior Long Course Championships, she placed 19th in the 50 free, 8th in the 100 free, 16th in the 200 free, 16th in the 100 back, and 15th in the 200 breast. In short course season she swam at Federal Way Sectionals and earned PBs in the 50/100 free and 200 breast. There, she was 21st in the 100 free, 23rd in the 200 breast, 21st in the 200 IM, and 27th in the 400 IM.

  • 100 breast – 1:04.15
  • 200 breast – 2:20.78
  • 200 IM – 2:04.03
  • 200 back – 2:04.53
  • 100 back – 1:01.88
  • 50 free – 23.60
  • 100 free – 51.27

It took 1:02.94/2:16.45 to score in the 100/200 breast at 2019 Pac-12 Championships.
