COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State’s Morganne McKennan and Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez have swept MW Swimming and Diving Peak Players of the Week honors following impressive performances. McKennan was named swimmer of the week, while Lechuga Gonzalez garnered diver of the week.
The honor marks McKennan’s first career award and Lechuga Gonzalez’s fifth.
SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Morganne McKennan, San Diego State
Senior, San José, California/Archbishop Mitty High School
- Placed atop the podium in the 100 breast with a time of 59.83, the fastest time in the Conference in 2019 and 14th-fastest time in the nation this season.
- Set a program and career best in the 100 breast with a long course swim of 1:09.80, fast enough to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Trials.
- Finished eighth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:14.50, the sixth-fastest in the Mountain West this year.
DIVER OF THE WEEK
Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez, San Diego State
Sophomore, Tijuana, Mexico/ITESM
- Earned a trio of top-three finishes at the NAU Diving Invitational on the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform dives.
- Placed first on the platform dive with a score of 253.80, third-best in the Conference all season.
- Posted a second-place finish on the 3-meter and 1-meter boards with scores of 306.90 and 306.65, respectively.
