2019 U.S. OPEN SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

  • December 4th-7th, 2019
  • McCauley Aquatic Center, Georgia Tech, Atlanta, Georgia
  • LCM (50m), Prelims/Finals
  • Psych Sheets

It’s time for another live stream two-step at the 2019 U.S. Open Swimming Championships in Atlanta. As has become the standard operating procedure for these meets, portions of the event will be live-streamed free on usaswimming.org, while other parts will be webcast on nbcsports.com (starting with Friday’s “A” finals, which will be the only session that will air live on television).

For those hoping to keep up with the entirety of the meet, note that the sessions don’t begin at the same time every day. Specifically, Saturday morning’s prelims session begins at 8:00AM – 2 hours earlier than the other days. This move will help jam in the B flight of the meet before the afternoon heats of the men’s and women’s 1500 freestyles begin at 1:10 P.M.

The meet will be flighted, which helps keep the sessions relatively short for the “top tier” swimmers. The 6 fastest-seeded heats of each event will go off in session 1, followed by the remainder of the athletes in each race thereafter. Athletes from the B flight are able to qualify for finals.

I’m curious to see how the December 21st taped recording does on NBC. 8 months before the Olympics, we’re already past the point of when they should begin to start shelling out products/endorsements. I was surprised not many of the golden goggles athletes were doing ads for their clothing/accessories (maybe i missed them)
-USA needs to catch up with how to sell the sport to a broader audience.

Hoping Dressel swims all 5 events he entered. It’ll be interesting to see how the 200 IM and 200 free go in particular. I assume the addition of the 200 IM/fly/free means he is testing where he is in the those events to see if it makes sense to add any to his trials program.

I’m so tired of being teased by Dressel swimming the 200IM at a major meet…we were told he was going to swim it at the ISL just a few weeks ago and that didn’t happen. Before that he was going to swim it at Nationals and then he dropped out of the meet…I want to see that 1:53 already!

And that sentiment goes for the 200 Free as well (though at least he put up a 1:47 PB last summer…at a random meet no less)

The fact that he isn’t entered in the 50 makes me think we’ll see at least one or two of the 200s
