Reading’s Molly Hamlin was one of a handful of swimmers to win multiple events and break records at the 2019 MIAA Division 2 Championships. Her first individual event was the 200 free, where she repeated as champion in 1:51.74. Hamlin then defended another title, this time in the 100 free. Her 51.95 was good for a new Meet Record.

Changing her lineup this season, Central Catholic’s Kerrigan Hemp opted for the 100 fly instead of the 500 free, where she was the 2018 champ. Hemp won the 100 fly handily in 56.98. She went on to defend her 100 back title, posting a new Meet Record time of 55.94 in the process.

The MIAA state meet is split in two, as there are a group of teams that compete in either fall or winter. On the boys’ side, there weren’t as many swimmers entered as they don’t have a split season.

Milton had 2 swimmers break records. Joe Pezzini broke the Meet Records in both the 200 IM (2:03.42) and 100 breast (1:00.69). Teammate Andrew Tran put up a 57.83 in the 100 back to take down the Meet Record.

Walpole’s Casey Laliberte swept took down the Meet Records in the longer freestyle events. Laliberte swam to a 1:54.71 in the 200 free and a 5:07.96 in the 500 free.
