Idaho 4A State Champion Gabbie Adams to Join Dixie State Roster

Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Gabbie Adams has announced her decision to swim for Dixie State University’s class of 2024. Adams, who lives in Nampa, ID, shared the news by saying, “Happy to say I will be continuing my education and swimming career at Dixie State University in the fall of 2020! Thank you to all my supporters for sticking by my side throughout this journey.

In November, the Skyview High School junior earned a gold and a silver medal at the IHSAA 4A State Championship. Adams charged to the wall almost a full second ahead of silver medalist Kayla Wieckowkski of Boise High School in the 200 free (1:55.13). In the final of 100 free, Adams was able to hold-off Haley Osborne of Mountain View to earn the silver medal.

Adams, a member of Nampa Swim Team, was a 3-time champion and 3-time finalist at the Inland Empire Senior Winter Championships. Adams dominated the field in the 200 free, cruising to the wall 4 seconds ahead of Eva Suggs. Similarly, she swam her own race in the 500 free, her time of 5:12.87 giving her a comfortable lead over Tahis Ibanez’s time of 5:27.69. Adams and her teammate Aspen Harris took the top spots in the 100 back, clocking in at 58.16 and 59.06 respectively. Adams took home 3/5 of the gold medals that Nampa Swim Team earned throughout the meet.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 back – 58.16
  • 400 IM – 4:34.59
  • 200 IM – 2:09.80
  • 1000 free – 10:31.05
  • 200 back – 2:09.25

Adam’s ability to swim multiple events will make her a strong addition to the women’s team at Dixie State University. Her times would have placed her in the A-final at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships in the 1000, the 400 IM and the 200 free, and the B-final in the 200 IM, and the 100 and 200 back.
