CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Eastern Illinois women’s team was victorious over Lewis University while the men fell short. The women won 138-127, while the men lost 98-168.
The men’s unit had a strong showing all throughout the meet. They took home three first-place finishes in the loss. Scott House won the 50 free and Joel Talley won the 200 IM. The men’s 200 medley relay team placed first with a time of 1:37.74
Other top three finishers were, Chris Dixon in the 1000 free, Scott House in the 200 free, Andrew Crouse and Ethan Dolan in the 100 back, and Race Archibald and Jarod Farrow in the 100 breast.
In the 200 back Alex Adams and Crouse went second and third, Archibald placed third in the 200 breast, Farrow placed third in the 500 free, and House was second in the 100 fly. In the 200 free relay the men placed second with a time of 1:27.32.
On the women’s side, they had a total of seven first-place finishes on the day. Jessica Harris placed first in the 1000 free and in the 500 free. Sarah Lohman won the 100 back, Julia Martin won the 200 fly, Katy Black won the 200 back, and the 200 medley relay team won. In the 200 free Sabrina Chu, Lily Schafer, and Gloria Gonzales swept going one, two, three.
Other top three finishers were Ziv Marco in the 1000 free, Harris in the 100 back, Mia Fries in the 100 breast, and Black in the fly. Chu placed second in the 100 free, and Schafer placed third in the 200 back.
In the 200 breast, Gonzales and Rachel Manderscheid placed second and third. Marco placed third in the free, Fries placed third in the 100 fly and the 200 free relay team finished second.
The EIU men’s & women’s swimming teams will return to action at the Butler Invitational on Sunday (Jan. 26).
