UNLV Rebels To Host Grand Canyon In Final Home Meet Of Season

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host Grand Canyon in the final home meet of the season Saturday at the Jim Reitz Pool. Diving will be on Friday night at 5:00 pm while Senior Day will begin at 10:50 am on Saturday morning with a farewell to the program’s five seniors, with the meet to follow at 11:00 am.
Top performers for the Rebel men this season have been senior Hayden Hemmens who leads the WAC in the 500 free overall (4:23.52), freshman Ogi Maric who tops the WAC in the 200 free (1:35.77), freshman Christopher Mykkanen who is third in the WAC in the 1000 free (9:23.21), freshman Panos Bolanos who leads the WAC in the 200 back (1:42.22), and junior diver Jesse Cawley.
 
Pacing the Rebel women are sophomore Carissa Armijo who is fourth in the Mountain West in the 500 free (4:51.32), sophomore Filio Raftopoulou who is ranked second in the 1000 free (10:12.07), junior Kate Afanasyeva is ranked second in the 100 back (53.67) and sixth in the 100 free (50.44), junior Caitlyn Schreiber is tied for the fifth fastest time in the 50 free (23.06), and sophomore diver Montse Moreno.
