(LA VERNE, Calif.) Westmont Women’s Swimming competed in its final regular season event on Saturday before opening postseason play later this month. The Warriors swam in a double-dual meet with the host La Verne Leopards and the Beavers of Cal Tech.

“We had a solid meet this past weekend,” said Westmont head coach Jill Jones Lin. “We had a good shot of winning the meet, but lost some close races and we didn’t have the diving component either.”

Without any divers, the Warriors do not have an opportunity to score team points in those events.
“The highlight of the meet was Morgan Bienias’ double victory in the 200 yard free and 500 yard free. As well as the “A” relay team winning the 400 yard freestyle relay.”

Bienias won the 200 yard freestyle in a time of 2:03.39, and the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:30.43.
The 400 yard freestyle team of Devyn Hynds, Bienias, Allison Gonzalez and Bailey Lemmon posted a time of 3:54.71, beating the NAIA Championship qualification time by more than 17 seconds.
“Olivia Huebner and Gaby Rego both pulled out season bests in their main events. It was great to see the progress they’ve made leading up to conference.”

Huebner finished third in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:51.94) and fourth in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:19.88). She also competed in the 200 yard individual medley, posting a time of 2:33.11.

Rego posted a fourth-place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.72 and a fifth place finish in the 100 yard freestyle (1:01.28).

Lemmon and Rian Lewandowski notched second place finishes for the Warriors in three events. Lemmon took second in both the 50 yard freestyle (25.79) and the 100 yard freestyle (1:03.29). Lewandowski was runner-up in the 100 yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:16.13.
Next week, the Warriors will compete in the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships that will be held February 12-15 at the East Los Angeles College Swim Stadium in Monterey Park.
