Pioneers, Foresters Top Leaderboard After Day 1 Of Midwest Conference Champs

GRINNELL, Iowa — The Pioneers of Grinnell College lead the way for men while the Foresters of Lake Forest College sit atop the women’s leaderboard after day one of the 2020 Midwest Conference Swimming & Diving Championships Friday.

The Pioneers lead the men’s teams with 246 points followed closely by the Foresters of Lake Forest College with 217 points. Sitting at third with 162.5 points are the Green Knights of St. Norbert College, followed by Monmouth College (107), Lawrence University (96), Illinois College (75), Ripon College (67.5), Beloit College (62) and Knox College (18).

In the men’s 1-meter diving, Grinnell’s Grant Lattery took first place with a score of 366.30.

The Foresters have a hefty lead over the women’s teams with 325 points. The Pioneers of Grinnell College are second with 232 points followed by Lawrence University (123), St. Norbert College (92), Illinois College (87), Monmouth College (77), Ripon College (69), Knox College (59), and Beloit College (36).

Grinnell’s Sophie Wojdylo claimed the women’s 3-meter diving title with a score of 427.50, an NCAA regional mark.

The championships will resume tomorrow morning with preliminary events starting at 10:00 AM and finals at 5:30 PM.
