Swarthmore Women, Franklin & Marshall Men Maintain Leads At Centennial Champs

GETTYSBURG, Pa.—Two days into the Centennial Conference Championship, No. 24 Swarthmore College Women’s Swimming stayed at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 306. Swarthmore maintains a 7.5-point lead over second-place Gettysburg College.

Sophomore Anna Lyn led off Friday night’s finals with a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a school-record time of 5:01.75. Hannah Kloetzer added to Lyn’s 20 points with 15 points for a fourth-place finish in the event. Swarthmore had two more A-heat finalists in the event, and Alex Comaniciu and Liv Stoetzer took seventh and eighth for an additional 23 points.

Kyla Hallam led Swarthmore in the 200 IM with a second-place 2:11.36 and 17 points. Sophia Lee had a tie for fifth, and Selina Ye took eighth.

In the 50 free, senior Saya Vaules earned a tie for bronze with a time of 24.14 in the finals. Anna Kottakis added 12 points with a seventh-place finish.

Gettysburg edged Swarthmore in the 400 medley relay. Swarthmore swam to silver with a 3:55.30 and 34 points. The Garnet took second in the B heat as well, but that team of Ye, Annabella Boardman, Vaules and Yadav actually recorded a faster time, 3:55.09.

Swarthmore resumes championship action in the preliminary session at 10 a.m. Saturday.

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall’s men’s swimming team maintained its lead on day two of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Friday, setting a pair of school records and a pool record. The Diplomats ended the night with 291.5 points in the top spot while host Gettysburg sits in second with 281 points. Swarthmore’s 228 points round out the top three.

Additional Notes

Schiavone’s 50-yard freestyle established the Gettysburg pool record.

Stoll’s 500-yard freestyle and Graminski’s 200-yard IM times set the team records in each event.

Cameron Mehta took third in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:53.33 to secure a pair of medals in the event for F&M.

Competition continues tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with the preliminary heats of the 200-yard Backstroke, 100-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Breaststroke, 200-yard Butterfly and the 1,650-yard Freestyle.
