Top 3
- GOLD: Leah Smith (Tuscon Ford)- 8:23.46

Leah Smith consistently held 31s throughout the majority of the race, coming home in 30.46 to clock in a season best of 8:23.46. Tying her seed time for second place was Hali Flickinger, clocking in an 8:29.96. Touching in for third was Kaersten Meitz, coming in just off her SB (8:31.85) at 8:32.21.
Smith now is the 3rd-fastest swimmer in the world this season just behind Kiah Melverton (8:22.24) and Katie Ledecky (8:14.59). Flickinger’s swim now puts her at #13 for the 2019-2020 season while Meitz’s season best remains at #16.
I really want to see Leah train for the 400IM again after that awesome swim at 2017 nationals.
At least the women’s 400 m individual medley does not interfere in the schedule with the women’s 400 m freestyle.

Yes, it is actually very strange. After very promising 4:33 in 2017 she swam this event 8(!) times in 2018 with the best time 4:35 and then only once last season. This week it was 4:45 in Des Moines. Something has definitely happened. That is the question that should’ve been asked.
Would like to see her back in Olympic final of 4×200 relay swimming her leg under 1:56.
Medal in 400 is very problematic. But racing this distance at Trial is the best chance to be in Tokyo.
What the heck are you talking about? Leah Smith took the silver in the women’s 400 m freestyle at the 2017 FINA World Aquatics Championships and the bronze in the women’s 400 m freestyle at the 2019 FINA World Aquatics Championships.
So based off your username you’re also implying that she can lead off the medley relay too?? Outrageous.
Regan Smith also swims
I’m talking about Ledecky, Titmus, Kesely and one or two Chinese girls.
P.S. why are so emotionally aggressive? When people don’t understand they usually ask for explanation. POLITELY.
