2020 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships

The 2020 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships, co-sponsored by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Lake Erie College, begin tomorrow with the preliminary rounds of diving. Swimming events begin on Wednesday at SPIRE Institute Aquatics Center in Geneva, Ohio. 281 swimmers from 54 teams were invited for individual events; 82 divers with 324 entries qualified for the diving portion of the meet; and another 40 or so swimmers made the cut for relays, bringing the total number of student-athletes to more than 400.

The men’s meet should be really competitive for the top spot this year. McKendree has a shot if they can repeat how they performed at their conference meet. About 8 teams on the men’s side will have a bunch of great individuals that will make the meet one of the better DII Championships in a long time. It will be difficult to defeat the defending champs on the women’s side but could be interesting should they not swim well. Drury, Indy, and UCSD could make it interesting if that happens, but they have way less room for poor morning swims with their entries.
