NAIA’s Lindsey Wilson Scores Commitment from Evan Conklin

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Evan Conklin of  Lake City, Florida has announced his commitment to join the Lindsey Wilson College swim team this fall. Conklin swims for the Gator Swim Club, the club team located at the University of Florida.

Conklin swims primarily freestyle, specializing in the sprint events. His top times in the 100 and 200 freestyles come from last November, at the Gator Swim Club Holiday Classic. At that meet he shaved over half a second off of his 100 free and over a full second off of his 200 free, finishing in 48.43 and  1:48.88 respectively. As a junior he competed at the 2018 FHSAA (Florida High School) 3A State Swimming and Diving Championships, finishing 20th in the 100 free (49.07).

Top SCY Times

  • 50 free – 22.53
  • 100 free – 48.43
  • 200 free – 1:48.88
  • 100 fly – 55.96

Lindsey Wilson College competes in the NAIA, where they are a member of the Mid-South Conference. At the 2020 Mid-South Conference Swimming and Diving Championships the Blue Raiders finished 2nd, falling to the University of the Cumberlands. They went on to finish 3rd at the NAIA Men’s Swimming and Diving National Championships, narrowly beating out Midland by only 12 points. The meet was won by Keiser University, marking the 3rd straight year in which they have captured the title.

The Blue Raiders were led last season by freshman Calvin Coetzee, their lone individual medalist at the NAIA National Championships. Coetzee was the national champion in the 200 free, as well as the silver medalist in both the 100 and 500 free.

Conklin’s best time would have put him just off of being a member of Lindsey Wilson’s relays. Last year both the 400 and 800 free relays finished 3rd at the NAIA National Championships.
