Penny Oleksiak will be taking part in ‘Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble’, a Canadian charity benefit that is slated to take place this Sunday, April 26th at 7 pm NT, 5;30 ET. She is among almost 30 Canadian athletes, musicians, and entertainers who will be joining in from across the country to help raise money and spread awareness.
The hour-long, commercial-free fundraising event will serve to help raise funds for Food Banks Canada. Food Banks Canada is one of Canada’s largest charities, working with food banks and other organizations throughout the nation to help relieve hunger within the country. The broadcast is also aimed at celebrating Canada’s essential workers, in both medical professions and elsewhere, for the work they continue to do despite current dangers. The event will take place on two dozen separate broadcasts, including TV, radio, and streaming platforms. The broadcast is being performed as a collaboration between Bell Media, CBC/Radio Canada, Corus, Rogers Media and Group V.
The event will be feature Canadian musicians such as Céline Dion, Michael Bublé, and Shania Twain. Oleksiak will also be among some of the countries most celebrated athletes who will be joining in on the broadcast. She will be joined by tennis star Bianca Andreescu, NHL and Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid and Paralympic games gold medalist Rick Hansen, among others.
Stronger Together is among a multitude of pandemic charity events that have taken place in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing quarantines. Other similar events have included One World: Together at Home and the iHeartRadio Living Room Concert for America.
Oleksiak is among Canada’s most successful summer Olympic athletes of all time. At the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio, she became the youngest Canadian to win Olympic gold at just 16 years old. She also holds the distinction of being the first Canadian to win four medals in a single Summer Olympic Games.
Penny’s always been one of my favorites, I hope she does well next year
