North Dakota Swimming LSC Cancels 2020 Long Course State Championships

North Dakota Swimming has canceled its 2020 Loung Course State Championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the LSC announced after a Board of Directors vote.

The meet was originally scheduled for July 24-26, in West Fargo, North Dakota. The board’s vote was unanimous to cancel, the announcement said, it will look into alternatives to hosting the championship meet.

” In making this decision, several factors were cited in coming to the conclusion that it would be best for North Dakota swimmers and teams to cancel the championship meet,” the LSC said, including that the Red Rive Valley Wahoos in Grand Forks said they will not have pool time until “at least early August.

“Other factors the NDLSC Board of Directors considered is the unknown of when all the other teams would be able to get into their respective home pools, and what practices would look like once teams were allowed back to their facilities,” the announcement added.

A number of other LSCs altered their long course season schedules in the last week. Gulf Swimming canceled its traditional season and is looking into options that align with state guidelines. Wisconsin Swimming canceled all championship scheduled events for the season, but not “regular season” meets. Connecticut Swimming took the strongest stance, canceling all 2020 long course season meets outright.
