TOP TIMES (SCY)

  • 50 back – 22.83
  • 100 back – 48.88
  • 200 back – 1:47.16
  • 100 breast – 53.86
  • 200 breast – 1:55.53
  • 100 fly – 50.40
  • 200 fly – 1:49.53
  • 200 IM – 1:46.23
  • 400 IM – 3:46.69

Christianson is very strong in pretty much any event, though freestyle (46.9/1:42.4/4:30.5) is his weakest discipline. Right off the bat, it looks like the 200 IM/400 IM/200 breast will be his bread-and-butter going forward, though he has plenty of promise in backstroke and sprint breast. He’s right near the top of the entire class of 2020 in that 200 breast, and while it’s a class saturated with age group phenoms like Carson FosterLuca Urlando, and Destin Lasco, Christianson is right by the top in the IM events, too.

Christianson finished in the A-final in both breaststrokes and both IM events at the 2019 Speedo Winter Junior Championships – East. Representing Panama internationally, Christianson won both breaststrokes and both IM events at the 2019 CCCAN Championships. He also finished sixth in the 200 IM and tenth in the 400 IM at the 2019 Pan Am Games.

Notre Dame claimed sixth place at the 2020 ACC Championships, though they were just nine points back of fifth-place Florida State and they weren’t too far behind fourth-place Virginia Tech. Christianson is a great snag for them; he would’ve made ACC A-finals in the 400 IM and 200 breast and B-finals in the 100 breast and 200 IM.

The Fighting Irish just graduated their top 200 IMer, Aaron Schultz, but they still have two years left with Josh Bottelberghe, who took fifth in both breast events at ACCs, and three years with Jack Hoagland, a distance specialist whose huge freshman breakout season culminated with top-three ACC finishes in the 400 IM, 500 free, and 1650 free.

He joins Joe HuntKaden SmeskoLiam SmithLuke Uttley, Michael McClamroch, Ollie BernasekSean FaikishStephan Lukashev, and Connor Hinkes this fall.
