Emily Rinker Commits to Miami (OH) MAC A-Final Time in 400 IM in Hand Already

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Rising high school senior Emily Rinker has verbally committed to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Rinker hails from Fort Collins, Colorado where she swims for the Fort Collins Area Swim Team and Fossil Ridge High School, where as a freshman she was a member of a Colorado Class 5A high school state championship winning team.

I’m the happiest girl in the world right now to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Miami University!! Thank you to everyone who helped me get to where I am today. I don’t know how I got so lucky to get to join such an amazing team. Love & Honor!!

Last season, as a junior, she finished 9th at that meet in the 200 yard free and 18th in the 100 yard back, though she missed best times in both races. She also split 52.77 on the anchor leg of Fossil Ridge’s state title-winning 400 free relay – a relay that included 4 underclassmen.

Rinker’s best events are not on the high school schedule, however. Her best events are the 200 back and 400 IM

Rinker’s Best Times in Yards:

  • 50 free – 25.72
  • 100 free – 53.77
  • 200 free – 1:54.60 (at altitude, conversion 1:53.40)
  • 100 back – 56.57
  • 200 back – 2:00.40
  • 100 fly – 59.55
  • 200 fly – 2:04.95
  • 200 IM – 2:07.47
  • 400 IM – 4:21.93

Her 4:21 in the 400 IM would have placed Rinker into the A final at last year’s MAC Championship meet. As a freshman, she’ll already be seeded for at least 20 individual points based on her current best times already.

Miami graduated all 3 scorers in the 400 IM from last year’s MAC Championships, including 7th-place finisher Hannah Fuchs (4:22.18). The team also graduated both of their scorers in the 200 back, including Izzy Herb, who finished 7th in 1:59.93.

She is also within range of being a free relay contributor for the Redhawks as well.

The Redhawks placed 4th out of 8 teams at last year’s MAC Championships.
