Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Alex Beauchene has announced his decision to further his athletic and academic career at Providence College beginning in the fall of 2021.

Alex Beauchene of Barkhamsted, CT has announced his decision to swim for Providence University’s class of 2025. He is in his final year at Northwestern Regional High School, where he swims for coaches Mary and Jason DiMauro. Beauchene swims under the direction of Coach Mario Francisco at Farmington Valley Tsunamis of Granby.

In July of 2019, Beauchene competed at the YMCA Long Course National Championships. He swam the 50, 100, and 200 free, and he swam time trials for the 400 free and 100 fly. He placed 38th in the 50 free, 35th in the 100 free, and 51st in the 200 free. He ended the meet with personal best times in each of his five races.

He most recently competed at the Connecticut Swimming Senior Championships in mid-February. He made it back in the B-final of the 100 free, touching 21st in prelims. Additionally, he finished 24th in the 50 free, 38th in the 200 free, and 56th in both the 100 fly and 100 back. In finals, Beauchene dropped 0.4 seconds from his prelims time and jumped up to 16th place.

Beauchene is a Northwestern Regional High School record-holder in the 100 and 200 free, 100 back, 200 IM, and 100 fly. He also holds the Berkshire League record in the 100 free. In 2018, he swam at the Class S State Championships, earning the gold medal in the 200 free and the silver medal in the 100 free.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 free – 22.06
  • 100 free – 47.58
  • 200 free – 1:42.69
  • 1650 free – 17:43.57
  • 50 fly – 25.71

The Providence College Friars will welcome Beauchene in the fall of 2021. His 200 and 1650 freestyle times will make him a top swimmer for the team. His 1650 free would have seeded him second behind 2020 Big East Conference runner-up Justin Viotto during the 2019-2020 season, and he would have been third behind Andrew Ferrell and Jack Armstrong in the 200 free. Beacuchene’s 200 free time would have earned him a spot in the B-final at the conference championships.

Beauchene will be joining distance-freestyler Seth Brodnick as a member of Providence’s class of 2025.
