Lehigh University Adds Maryland HS State Champion Sean Davis to Roster for 2021

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Versatile swimmer Sean Davis of Rockville, MD has announced his decision to join Lehigh University’s men’s team beginning in the 2021-2022 season. Davis is a year-round competitor at the Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club and he is in his final semester at Rockville High School.

I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Lehigh University. I chose Lehigh because of the amazing academics, beautiful campus and welcoming team. Thank you to all my friends, family, and coaches who made this possible. Go Mountain Hawks!

Davis is a Maryland HS State champion in the 500 free. In February of 2020, the Rockville High School junior competed at the MPSSAA 3A/2A/1A State Swim Championships in the 500 free and the 100 back. He took 12.45 seconds off of his entry time to go a best time of 4:41.03. He also improved his 100 back time, touching 6th in a time of 55.57. Davis led off Rockville’s 200 medley relay and he swam the second leg of the school’s 400 free relay.

He also qualified for the state meet as a sophomore, swimming the 200 IM, 500 free, and 2 relays. He finished 19th, touching at 4:59.18. Davis has been named a Potomac Valley Swimming Scholar-Athlete all four years of his high school career.

Davis most recently competed at the NCSA Junior National Championships, where he recorded lifetime best times in 4 of 5 races. Over the last four years, he has made impressive improvements in his top events.

Below is a table of his progression over the last four seasons.

  2017-18 2018-19 2019-20 2020-21
200 back 2:04.37 1:59.71 1:56.27 1:52.38
200 fly 2:05.01 2:00.15 1:56.76 1:54.42
400 IM 4:27.81 4:20.19 4:10.76 4:07.79
500 free 5:02.32 4:53.82 4:41.03 4:39.89
1650 free 17:25.53 16:59.79 16:43.09 16:08.96

The Lehigh University men’s team finished 6th at the 2020 Patriot League Championships. Davis’ 1650 free time would have placed him 16th at the conference champs. Additionally, his top times would have made him the team’s second-fastest competitor in the 1650 and its fifth-fastest in the 500 free during the 2019-2020 season.

Davis will be joining mid-distance freestyler Connor Goodyear as a member of the Mountain Hawks’ class of 2025.
