54/1:59 Breaststroker Evan Yoo Commits to Army West Point for 2021

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Evan Yoo from Redondo Beach, California has verbally committed to swim for the United States Military Academy in the class of 2025.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at the United States Military Academy at West Point. I want to thank everyone who has helped me lead up to this moment and am very excited for this next chapter in my life. I am truly honored to have this opportunity to serve my country. Go Army! Beat Navy!”

Yoo is a senior at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. He competed at CIF Southern Section Division 1 Championships as a freshman (2018) and sophomore (2019), making the A final in the 100 breast in both meets. At the 2019 section championship, he went 56.52 in the breast to place 7th. He also swam the 200 IM (15th, 1:55.24) and anchored the 400 free relay (48.38). Swimming with the club team Beach Cities at 2019 Winter Juniors West, he competed in the 100/200 breast and 200 IM and finished 10th in the 200 breast with a PB of 1:59.52. In his first chance to race since Carlsbad Sectionals in February 2020 (where he finaled in the 100/200 breast and 200/400 IM and took home a PB in the 200 free), Yoo scored a lifetime best in the 100m breast (1:05.56) at 2020 U.S. Open in Irvine. A month later at Las Vegas Super Finals, he won the 100/200 breast and 200 IM and also finaled in the 500 free (10th) and 100 fly (13th). He also time trialed the LCM 200 breast (2:20.70) and took home PBs in the 500 free, 100 breast, 100 fly, and 200/400 IM.

Best SCY times:
