Kathryn Brady, Anna Gann Commit to Niagara University for Fall of 2021

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Niagara University, a NCAA DI school located in Lewiston, New York, has added a pair of commitments for this fall from Kathryn Brady and Anna Gann.

Kathryn Brady

Kathryn Brady, a native of Sayville, New York, will stay in-state with her commitment to Niagara University this fall. Brady swims year-round with the Three Village Swim Club.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at Niagara University! Go Purple Eagles!”

Brady is a versatile athlete, with her best events primarily being the breaststroke and IM races. In 2019 she was a New York high school state championship finalist in the 100 breast, taking 12th in 1:06.14. This spring, at an IMX time trial meet, she picked up new best times in the 200 breast (2:23.11), 200 back (2:08.80), and both IM events (2:09.55/4:32.69).

Best Times (SCY)

  • 100 breast – 1:06.14
  • 200 breast – 2:23.11
  • 200 IM – 2:09.55
  • 400 IM – 4:32.69

With her best times, Brady will be a big addition to the Purple Eagle team this fall. She would have held the team’s fastest time in both breaststroke races, as well as the 400 IM, last season. Her times also aren’t far off of the school’s records, with her 400 IM being less than a second off of the record, a 4:31.98 set in 2011. She would also hold the school’s second-fastest time ever in both breaststroke events.

Anna Gann

Joining Brady as a member of Niagara’s freshman class of 2021 will be Anna Gann of Toano, Virginia. Gann swims for the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins as well as Warhill High School.

“I’m extremely excited to announce my commitment to swim D1 at Niagara University this fall. I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches. Go purple Eagles!”

In January, Gann hit new lifetime bests in a pair of events at the SwimRVA Heavyweight meet. At that meet, Gann swam new best times in the 500 free (5:40.51) and 200 IM (2:25.56).

Best Times (SCY)

  • 100 free – 58.37
  • 200 free – 2:05.58
  • 500 free – 5:40.51
  • 1000 free – 11:31.44
  • 100 back – 1:02.21
  • 400 IM – 4:59.31

Gann will provide depth for the Purple Eagles in multiple events after arriving on campus this fall. With her best times, she would have made the school’s B-relay for both the 400 and 800 free relays.

Niagara is coming off of its first full season under a new coaching staff, with head coach Eric Bugby joining the program halfway through the 2019-2020 season and assistant coach Morgan Bullock being hired before the 2020-2021 season.

While the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) did not hold a conference championship in 2021 due to Covid-19, they held a virtual championship meet at which the Niagara women took 4th.
