GMX7 Weekly Wonders of Age Group Swimming – 7/6/2021

In our GMX7 Weekly Wonders of Age Group Swimming series, we celebrate swimmers of every age and experience level with age group profiles of some recent results.

Mikayla Tan, 11, DART Swimming (DART-SN): 11-year-old Tan established new lifetime-bests in all three long course breaststrokes at the Summer Slam Championship in California. That included a ten-second drop in the 100 breast from 1:26.9 to 1:16.0, and a 25-second drop from 3:06 to 2:41.2 in the 200 breast.

Jack Wilkening, 17, Club Wolverine (CW-MI): In Michigan, 17-year-old Wilkening dropped time in his 100/200 frees, but his biggest swim was a 57.79 personal best in the 100-meter backstroke. That counted as a four-tenth-of-a-second drop from his previous best, set just last month in Wilkening’s first-ever swim under a minute.

Jada Scott, 16, Alamo Area Aquatic Association (AAAA-ST): In Texas, 16-year-old Scott dropped time in four events at the George Block Invite, including her first-ever swim under 57 seconds in the 100-meter free. Scott went 56.99 there, as well as 2:22.99 in the 200 IM.
