In our GMX7 Weekly Wonders of Age Group Swimming series, we celebrate swimmers of every age and experience level with age group profiles of some recent results.
Maya Schweikert, 13, Countryside YMCA (CY-OH): In Ohio, 13-year-old Schweikert crushed a personal-best 1:04.80 in the 100-meter backstroke. That was a half-second drop for Schweikert, ranking her #15 in the 13-14 age group this entire season, one of just two 13-year-olds in that top 15.
Sean Green, 14, Long Island Aquatic Club (LIAC-MR): 14-year-old Green rewrote his career-best times from the 100 free up to the 1500 free. His best times came at the high end of that range, including a 15:56.57 in the 1500, 8:21.03 in the 800 and a 4:00.85 in the 400 free. That 400 free was a 12-second drop and the 800 was a 21-second drop.
Mary Codevilla, 17, Elevation Aquatics (EA-CO): 17-year-old Codevilla hit five personal bests at the 2021 TXLA Western Region meet. Probably most notable was a 2:16.94 in the 200 IM (a drop of more than four seconds), but Codevilla also went 56.51 in the 100 free.
Will Scholtz, 16, Lakeside Swim Team (LAK-KY): Scholtz broke 1:03 for the first time in his career in the 100 breast. The 16-year-old went 1:02.68, a drop of four-tenths of a second. He also shaved a few tenths off his 200 IM time to go 2:06.29.
