Crow Canyon County Club Sharks 15-year-old Bailey Hartman won the women’s 200 free on day 2 of the Roseville Sectional meet. Hartman led a tight race with Brea Aquatics’ Kenisha Liu, touching in 2:01.00 to Liu’s 2:01.11. The swim was a personal best for Hartman, coming in well under her previous mark of 2:02.63, which she swam at the end of April this year. Liu was off her personal best of 2:00.34, which has stood as her best since summer of 2017. La Mirada Armada 13-year-old Kayla Han posted yet another lifetime best, swimming a 2:03.88 in prelims of the race. That marks a big drop for Han, who entered the meet with a personal best of 2:05.87, which was also from April of this year.
Han did not swim the 400 IM, the event in which she notably crushed Elizabeth Beisel‘s 11-12 NAG in at the end of May. DART’s Audrey Portello took control of the women’s 400 IM last night, swimming a 4:49.22 for a massive new personal best. The swim marked an improvement of 4.17 seconds for the 17-year-old, and was good for 1st by 7.68 seconds.
Brown’s Michael Lincoln won the men’s 200 free handily won the men’s 200 free in 1:50.64. He was just off his personal best of 1:50.55, which he swam in July of 2018. Orinda Aquatics’ Benjamin Hayes won the men’s 400 IM by over 5 seconds, clocking a 4:25.85. The swim marked a massive improvement from his previous best of 4:31.35, which had stood as his best since summer of 2019.
Walnut Creek Aquabears 17-year-old Nina Statler took the women’s 100 back in 1:03.78. Her performance marked lifetime best by a full second, and her previous best was from May of this year. Statler is slated to swim the 200 back on day 3, where she has a personal best of 2:32. Based off her 100 back performance, we’ll be looking to see how much she can take off that seed time.
Stanford’s Leon MacAlister clocked a 54.64 to win the men’s 100 back, marking his first sub-55 of his career. The swim was big for both MacAlister and Stanford, as MacAlister appears poised to be Stanford’s top backstroker for this upcoming NCAA season.
