NAIA’s Milligan University Brings in Liz Mahan for 2021-22

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Liz Mahan from Katy, Texas has committed to swim for Milligan University in the class of 2025.

“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Milligan University!! I am so thankful for my family, friends and coaches who have helped me get to where I am. Let’s go Buffs!!”

Mahan swam for Cinco Ranch High School where she specialized in breaststroke and IM. In club swimming, she trains year-round with KATY Aquatics.

In July, Mahan competed at the Southern Zone Senior Championships and earned new LCM bests in the 50 free (28.38) and 50 breast (37.75), finaling in both events. She also competed in the 100 free. In December, she notched a lifetime best in the SCY 100 free at the MAC 13&O Winter Invitational where she came in 7th in the 50 free, 10th in the 100 free, and 18th in the 200 free. She earned a PB in the 200 in March at the KATY PACE Spring Championships. There, she finaled in the 50 free (7th), 100 free (4th), 200 free (2nd), 100 back (14th), and 100 breast (11th).

Best SCY times:

  • 50 free – 25.26
  • 100 free – 54.55
  • 200 free – 1:57.12
  • 50 breast – 32.11
  • 100 breast – 1:09.61
  • 200 breast – 2:34.96
  • 200 IM – 2:14.71
  • 400 IM – 4:47.74

Milligan competes in the Appalachian Conference and in the NAIA. While the national championships were canceled in each of the last two years because of COVID-19, Mahan would have qualified for 2019 NAIA Nationals in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM. She would have scored in the B final of the 200 free but it took 24.81/53.46 in the 50/100 free, 1:08.60/2:31.73 in the 100/200 breast, and 2:12.52/4:46.93 in the 200/400 IM to get a second swim at the 2019 national meet.
