Wyoming Adds Logan Arnold to Swimming Coaching Staff

University of Wyoming swimming & diving head coach Dave Denniston announced another addition to his coaching staff Thursday. Logan Arnold will join UW as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with men’s swimming, beginning this fall.

“It’s hard to describe how happy I am to join the coaching staff at the University of Wyoming,” Arnold said. “When coach Denniston reached out to me about the position, I was thrilled about the possibility of working with him, the coaching staff, and the student-athletes. I’m stoked about working with such a talented group of people and relocating to the High Plains and mountains of Wyoming.”

Arnold fills the spot left by the departure of Jim Bossert, who was with the program as an assistant for 4 seasons. In June, Bossert was named an assistant coach at Fresno State University.

Arnold arrives in Laramie after three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at George Washington University. He helped the men’s team claim a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference Championships, while the women’s team won the conference crown in 2020.

“I reached out to several coaches around the country to try and find the best fit for our team and program,” Denniston said. “Unprompted, three head coaches from power-five schools recommended I talk to Logan Arnold. During our first conversation, it was clear we had a phenomenal opportunity with Logan. He has phenomenal coaching knowledge and experience from some of the best mentors in the country.

“He’s a hard worker and brilliant recruiter. Our team is excited to have Logan join our program and elevate us to the next level.”

Prior to George Washington, Arnold was an assistant coach at St. Bonaventure University for one season. Before that, he was a volunteer assistant coach at NC State for one season.

Arnold has also held coaching positions at the University of St. Thomas and Concordia College (Minn.). Arnold swam competitively at St. John’s University (Minn.) and earned a double degree from Concordia in exercise science and history.

Arnold is one of two new coaches on the Wyoming staff this season: the school has also announced Elizabeth Levy as a graduate assistant.

The Wyoming women finished 4th out of 8 teams at the 2021 Mountain West Conference Championship meet – with more than a 300 point gap to the top 3 teams of UNLV, Nevada, and San Diego State. They will return, among others, Melissa Mirafuentes, who has been named the Mountain West Conference Championship Diver of the Meet in each of her two seasons of collegiate diving. Katelyn Blattner was the highest individual scorer at the meet.

The men’s team, meanwhile, finished 3rd out of 6 teams at the WAC Championship meet, and were within 50 points of runners-up Air Force.
