The ISL debuted their livestream for the 2021 season on Thursday, with a new surprise: three options for a viewing experience.
Specifically, fans can watch the “main feed,” which jumps between several cameras; an exclusive overhead “spider camera,” and an “underwater camera.”
While each offers a different viewing experience, for swim coaches, who are always interested in learning from the world’s best swimmers, the underwater camera offers a particularly enticing opportunity to watch the part of their stroke that we don’t often get to see: underwater.
While for most of day 1, that camera was focused on a wall (which doesn’t offer a great overall viewing experience), it still gives great underwater views of the work coming into or out of a turn. Hopefully, the viewing angles will be expanded as the season goes on.
Now THIS might make it worth the full season price of admission, if they can fix the camera angle issues that is.
Also, depending on the feed, do we still have to listen to Rowdy?
