Winter Juniors Qualifier Emma Schott Sends Verbal Commitment to Kansas

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Reno, Nevada’s Emma Schott has verbally committed to the University of Kansas for 2022-23. She announced her decision on social media in July:

“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my swimming and academic careers at the University of Kansas! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!💙❤️”

A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Schott is a rising senior at Reno High School. She swims year-round with Lakeridge Swim Team and focuses mainly on IM, free and fly. Her best performances, including a Winter Juniors standard in the 200 IM, date from 2019 and 2020. At the Washington Open in January 2020, she placed 4th in the 400 IM and 5th in the 200 IM, notching PBs in both events (2:03.69/4:23.09). Those times were marked improvements from a month prior, when she had competed at Winter Juniors West in the same events but gone 2:06/4:31. Also at the 2020 Washington Open, she finaled in the 100 fly and picked up new times in both the 100 and 200 fly.

This summer, Schott won the 200 IM at the Western Zone Senior Long Course Championships with 2:22.43, just off her PB of 2:22.00 from Mt. Hood Futures in 2019. She also finaled in the 400 IM, 200 free, and 100 fly.

Best SCY times:

  • 200 IM – 2:03.69
  • 400 IM – 4:23.09
  • 100 fly – 57.08
  • 200 fly – 2:10.58
  • 100 free – 52.89
  • 200 free – 1:52.95

Schott will join the Jayhawks with fellow class of 2026 commits Hailey Farrell, Lydia Lafferty, and Maggie Moore. She will join an IM group that will have just lost Dannie Dilsaver and Kate Steward, but she will overlap with Ellie Wehrmann and Paige Riekhof, both of whom scored in IM events at the 2021 Big 12 Championships.
