Ingrid Wilm Breaks Canadian Record in 100 Backstroke with 55.94 in ISL Match 4

2021 INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING LEAGUE โ€“ SEASON 3, MATCH 4

Ingrid Wilm of the LA Current swam under the Canadian National Record in the women’s 100 backstroke twice on Sunday in Naples. First, in the individual women’s 100 backstroke, Wilm posted a 55.94 to win the race and take down Kylie Masse‘s 2016 time of 56.02, set in the prelims at the 2016 FINA World Championships in Windsor. Later, as the lead-off for LA Current’s mixed medley relay, Wilm went a 55.98 to once again slip under Masse’s mark, though falling just short of her own brand new record.

Wilm is now the 13th-fastest performer all-time in the women’s 100 SCM backstroke.

Helena Gasson did the same in 50m fly, broke two 50m fly national records for New Zealand, and also broke the 100m fly record as well

There's no doubt that he's tightening up

I wonder whether later on in the ISL season we’ll see Masse reclaim that record.

She’s a great LCM swimmer, but you’ve got to think that a 57.7 in the big pool should translate to at least a 55 low?

Awesome congrats! To break a Masse record? ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
What depth in ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ backstroke, a national record from someone not on the Olympic team!

Absolutely great to see. I saw Ingrid swim for UBC for three years and I always thought she had more in her. Sheโ€™s one to watch over the next Olympic cycle as sheโ€™s seemed to figure out the professional lifestyle.

JACKPOT

I’ve come up with a brilliant idea. Why don’t we ask ISL to post the JACKPOT time difference and the PENALTY time standard right there with the results?

What a surprise she’s been so far this season!

Watched her good career at UBC, but never really had a break out, especially with the strength of woman’s backstroke in Canada.

Keep it up Ingrid!
