Kyle Chalmers, Rob Woodhouse Discuss ‘Jackpot Loss’ to Energy Standard

2021 INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING LEAGUE – SEASON 3, MATCH 8

Reported by Reid Carlson. Data compiled by Barry Revzin.

FINAL TEAM SCORES

TEAM SCORE MEN WOMEN RELAY SKINS PENALTY JACKPOT CHECKPOINT
Energy Standard 507.0 211.5 245.5 150.0 31.0 -3.0 44.0 13.0
London Roar 486.5 241.0 221.5 112.0 35.5 -2.0 14.0 13.0
LA Current 395.5 190.5 205.0 56.0 69.5 -13.0 -19.0 7.0
Tokyo Frog Kings 379.0 208.0 171.0 48.0 34.0 -2.0 -36.0 31.0

FINAL TEAM SCORES – JACKPOT POINTS REMOVED

TEAM SCORE MEN WOMEN RELAY SKINS PENALTY CHECKPOINT
London Roar 475.5 237.0 214.5 106.0 23.5 -3.0 16.0
Energy Standard 464.0 200.5 233.5 112.0 38.0 -2.0 14.0
LA Current 416.5 203.5 201.0 74.0 64.5 -13.0 9.0
Tokyo Frog Kings 409.0 208.0 193.0 74.0 35.0 -2.0 25.0

For the first time in the history of the ISL, jackpot points decided the winner of Match 8, favoring Energy Standard over the London Roar. If the jackpot points are removed then the London Roar would have actually beaten Energy Standard by the narrow margin of 11.5 points. Neither team received enough penalty deductions to sway the outcome, and their checkpoint points nearly even out.

Until Match 8, jackpot points had only affected the outcome of Match MVPs, but now their value to overall team standings is on display. A point brought up by Barry is that every time 4 or more swimmers get jackpotted, the winner of the race is now up 19 points, more than 2 individual wins. These point swings could affect how a team builds its roster, preferring big stars to a team with depth.

To kill time between Fina World Cup events as he can’t go back to Australia due to current quarantine rules .. which is a logistical nightmare for overseas travel

I understand he can’t go back to Aus. But Toronto is also like the other side of the earth?

Yeah that was my first reaction too and I don’t think he is with Madi Wilson lately anymore (gossip girl mode) .. but maybe Pickrem offered to host Kyle in Canada .. it’s not often you get an Olympic champ training in your squad

I saw vid of filming for the prequel of G of T & Kyle has got THE LOOK. They were wading onto shore but maybe for the the prequel of this prequel when they were on the shore before this shore.

Dressel has the arms but not the hair & he’s a bit pretty.

What’s “THE LOOK” and why does it matter?

G of T is set to be ongoing like Star Wars with prequels & sequels . At least people will watch G of T unlike ISL.

His shoulder is a mess but he should be able to throw a few oppositional guys about & into moats & stuff & he need never need to speak . He could learn some Danish which should cover the throat sounds & grunting.
