TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State swimming and diving team finished their first meet of the year on Friday evening at the Vigo County Aquatic Center.

Although this was an Intrasquad meet, the meet was still scored and formatted like a regular dual meet. The event was designed to help the Sycamores prepare for the start of the season.

The Trees were split into two different teams and competed against each other throughout the night.

The meet was very competitive, as it came down to the last relay of the night to decide the winner. Team Blue came out on top with a score of 152, while Team White was close behind with a score of 143.

“The freshmen really came and did a fantastic job tonight,” Christensen commented. “They won quite a few events and it was a really impressive showing for them, I was really impressed with the freshmen tonight.”

Alexandria Cotter was a freshman that really stood out for the Sycamores. Cotter finished with the best time in the 100 Breast Stroke with a time of 1:05. Another freshman that looked good Friday evening was Chloe Farro. Farro finished the night winning both the 100 Free and the 50 Free, while also contributing in the relays for ISU.

“With this being our first run through, I thought we competed really well and we had some really good swims,” Christensen said. “It came down to the last relay, which was fun and I thought that a lot of things went really well tonight.”

The Sycamores will travel to Bloomington, Indiana next week on Wednesday, October 6 for the Indiana Tri-Meet. They will face off against the Indiana Hoosiers and the Kentucky Wildcats. The meet is set to start at 2 p.m. at the Counsilman-Bilingsley Aquatic Center.
