Max Hardart Verbals to Brown University

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Hackley School senior Max Hardart has announced his verbal commitment to the application process* at Brown University.

“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process to swim and study at Brown University! I’d like to thank all my friends, family, teammates and coaches who have helped me throughout the years. Go Bruno!”

Hardart swims at Badger Swim Club. At the 2021 Metro Swimming TYR Senior Championships, he placed third in the 200 IM and 1500 freestyle, fourth in the 400 IM, and sixth in the 400 freestyle. He also placed in the top eight in the 1500 and 400 IM at the 2021 Richmond Speedo Sectionals.

Hardart has Winter Juniors cuts in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyle, as well as the 400 IM. He has Futures cuts in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM.

His best short course times are:

  • 500 freestyle: 4:28.47
  • 1000 freestyle: 9:24.49
  • 1650 freestyle: 15:38.43
  • 200 IM: 1:51.31
  • 400 IM: 3:56.84

Brown University is a member of the Ivy League. At the 2020 Men’s Ivy League Championship (the 2021 meet was canceled due to COVID-19), Brown placed fourth out of eight teams. At those championships, Hardart would have placed 20th in the 1000 freestyle, 19th in the 1650 freestyle, and 19th in the 400 IM.

He’ll have the opportunity to help build up Brown’s distance team when he arrives on campus. Tyler Lu and Lukas Scheidl will be the only Brown swimmers still on the team who made finals in the distance freestyle events at the 2020 conference championships, and both will be seniors.

With his best times, Hardart would be the 14th-fastest 500 freestyler of all time for the men’s team, the 12th-fastest 1000 freestyler, the ninth-fastest 1650 freestyler, and the 12th-fastest 400 IMer.

Hardart joins Patrick Keough, Tucker Peterson, and Aaron Martin as swimmers entering in the fall of 2022.

*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
