The Breakdown

  • Fresno State opens the 2021-22 season as a team at home hosting the Chick-Fil-A Invitational.
  • The Bulldogs will see Mountain West foes San Diego State & San Jose State and Pac-12 opponents Cal, UCLA and Washington State this weekend.

Bulldog Bones

  • Fresno State brings back 22 returners and nine newcomers in 2021-22.
  • The Bulldogs hosted the Red/Blue Intersquad Meet last weekend competing in 16 events.
  • Senior Darina Khisiamova won three races earning the top spot in the 600 freestyle (6:11.24), 300 freestyle (2:58.98) & 150 butterfly (1:31.64).
  • Freshman Sara Lucchini also earned three wins with top times in 50 back (27.12), 50 freestyle (24.61) and 50 butterfly (25.68).

Khisiamova finishes eighth at Open Water Nationals
Khisiamova placed eighth on Sept. 17 at the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Collegiate Open Water Championship finishing the 5K (3.1 miles) in a time of 1:04:48.4.

The Bulldogs finished third at the last version of the Chick-Fil-A Invitational in 2019 scoring 471.5 points.

Cal placed first and San Diego State finished second with Washington State and San Jose State took fourth and sixth, respectively,

  • San Diego State
    • The Aztecs, who open the season at Pepperdine on Thursday, finished third last season at the MW Championships and tied for 32nd at the NCAA Championships.
  • San Jose State
    • The Spartans are off to a 0-2 start to the season in dual action falling at home to Nevada and at Stanford.
    • SJSU finished eighth last season at the MW Championships.
  • Cal
    • The Bears, who opened the season two weeks ago at Cal Poly, won the Pac-12 Championship in 2021 and placed fourth in the country.
  • UCLA
    • The Bruins, who open the season this weekend, placed third at the Pac-12 Championships a season ago and 18th at the NCAA Championships.
  • Washington State
    • The Cougars opened up the season at Idaho on Oct. 2 with a 166-128 dual meet win.
    • WSU finished seventh at the 2021 Pac-12 Championships.
