The Canisius men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned a split at the Burt Flickinger Center Saturday afternoon in downtown Buffalo, N.Y. The women’s team defeated Geneseo 174-126, while the men fell to the Knights 180-120.
In women’s diving, senior Adriana Bolender earned a first-place finish in the 1-meter (209.55) and the 3-meter (223.72) dives, respectively. Sophomore Hope Marshall secured second in the 3-meter (203.78) for the Golden Griffins.
In swimming, the women’s squad was led by graduate student Sage Pollack and junior Grace Van Buren, who earned three and two first-place finishes, respectively. Pollack, who earned MAAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week honors for her performance last Saturday at Rochester, garnered the top spot in the 50 (24.22) and 100-free (54.14) solo events and also came in first in the 400 free relay (3:41.46). Van Buren placed first in the 100-fly (59.89), while also finishing first in the 400 free relay along with freshman Ashley Allaire and sophomore Jordan O’Connor.
The women’s team also scored first-place finishes from freshmen Noriah Cook (100-back 59.85) and Bailey Wiegand (200-fly 2:14.05) as well as senior Alison Testone (200-breast 2:32.09).
Senior Liam O’Connell paced the men’s team, picking up first-place victories in all four of his events for the second consecutive week. The reigning MAAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week earned the top spot in the 200 (1:41.64), 500 (4:39.39) and 1000-free (10:08.17) solo events. O’Connell also claimed first in the 400 free relay (3:11.60) along with freshman Bronson Benes, junior Alexander Hiltbrand and senior Kyle Kimerer.
Freshman Archie Minto (200-fly 1:53.17), sophomore Daniel Bowen (100-back 52.90) and Kimerer (100-free 47.59) all earned first-place finishes as well for the men’s team.

• Canisius will return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 6, with a dual meet at Binghamton. A 1 p.m. start time is scheduled at the Patricia A. Saunders Aquatic Center in Vestal, N.Y.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo men’s swimming and diving team went on the road Saturday afternoon and defeated Division I opponent Canisius College 180-120.
Junior Jack Cimorelli paced the Knights with four first-place finishes in the meet. In individual events, he won the 100-yard breaststroke, the 200-yard breaststroke, and the 200-yard IM. He was also apart of the 200-yard medley relay team, that opened up the meet with a time of 1:34.14.
The Knights won seven races, while also taking home the top-four spots in both diving events. Geneseo is now 2-0 on the season, with their other win coming against Nazareth at home two weeks ago. They will look to keep that undefeated mark next weekend when they travel to a tri-meet with Grove City and Fredonia at Fredonia.
