The Russian backstrokers were acutally asked a lot about it already. Both said Murphy’s a nice person and it was just misunderstandings caused by media.
It’s not really a mystery. RM likes the cred of being a ‘doping fighter’ by saying someone he’s racing is doping, but without the responsibility of having to answer for those comments to his competitors.
He wants his cake and to eat it too.
He wants to be the nice guy and the guy who calls his competitors a b****.
He wants to be the guy who gets 1% better every day, but also the guy who says that the World Championships aren’t important enough for him to fully prepare for.
RM is this close to being a marketing juggernaut, but he just can’t seem to get over that hill.
