We took a trip to Springfield, Missouri, the home of Division II Drury University. On this day, Drury was getting ready for their mid-season invite and I caught them on a taper Thursday. And Drury does not mess around with taper. For the sprinters, the set given by coach Zach Mertins was simple:
30 min free swim
8×25 @ 4:00
1-2 Off the Blocks
3-8 From a push
This was highlighted by heat 1, which included Karol Ostrowski (NCAA DII record-holder in the 50/100 free, 18.92/41.25), Kham Glass (19.6, 43.8) and Oleksii Khnykin (19.6, 42.8).
RECENT PRACTICE + PANCAKES EPISODES
Emmanuel college in Georgia someday!
Coleman’s videos are always a treat. The “cherry on top” is seeing what his newest facial-and-hair-style combo is! Keep ‘em coming CH!
shoulda eaten at Ziggys
I like seeing D2 swimming getting some coverage. How about heading to the Columbus Ohio area and checking out some D3 swimming at Kenyon College and Denison University?
Right on. There’s a fantastic DIII invitational in Granville this weekend with Denison hosting Emory, Washington University (St. Louis), Franklin and Marshall, and Eastern Michigan.
Admission fee: donations or cash for the Market Street Pantry and the Licking County Food Pantry.
Well, based on the way they comment, I’m not sure we’d feel comfortable letting Coleman walk on deck at either of those programs.
example?
Do not come. Do not come
Woah is there beef between Denison/Kenyon and SwimSwam/Coleman? I haven’t picked up on this at all
I believe Braden is referring to the D3 dual meet rankings article where Kenyon and Denison fans/swimmers? went wild about how their team is better, how their team is training hard, etc. Regardless, totally echo the idea of going to more D3 programs. I’m always impressed by how well programs like Denison, Kenyon, Emory, and more are able to develop talent.
Ahhh I thought Denison/Kenyon had beef with Coleman specifically and couldn’t imagine why
Coleman knows what he did.
There have been several instances, that was one of them, where athletes from these teams have crossed some lines. It has been across seasons too.
Some teams just seem to not know how to act when they get press.
Boooo. And if the comments scared you away then go interview Emory or JHU
Coleman is always welcome here at Case Western Reserve, Braden 🙂
LOVE THE BEEF!
I thought Braden wanted swimming to have more friction and rivalries but I guess he can’t handle the heat.
Sure I do.
However, some of the student athletes at both schools crossed the lines of decency. Those comments were, for obvious reasons, deleted.
Should’ve hung out in the MIAA section of D3swimming.com back in the day.
Very entertaining.
Ha, reminds me of the CAA and MAAC forums on collegeswimming when that was a thing.
The golden years. Back when the internet was fun
That is disappointing to hear. Since the comments have been deleted I obviously can’t know what you mean but I trust that if they were deleted it must have been rough… that is embarrassing for the programs. My comment about JHU and Emory still stands! Would love an interview with those coaches. Also more D3 content in general (:
Definitely crosses a line when one program’s coach has to return stolen team gear and towels to the facility they just left 😂
Well, that’s disappointing to hear (especially since I swam at Kenyon many,, many years ago). I still can’t get enough practice and pancakes, and I’m sure other D3 programs would welcome Coleman.
There is a thirst for D3 Swimming content, and it can only be quenched by Coleman
Coleman is the “cowbell” of SwimSwam
Interesting that Ostrowski is still training (and tapering) with Drury given that he hasn’t swam in a meet this year and apparently is in the transfer portal. Guess we might see him swim for them this year after all?
And Khnykin ran out of eligibility a year ago.
Those were some fast 25’s
