Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Katie White of Lakeville, Massachusetts has announced her college decision, electing to join the Villanova Wildcats in the fall of 2022. White swims year-round with the Bluefish Swim Club. Last year, longtime Bluefish head coach Chuck Batchelor left the program to take over SwimMAC. During his time with Bluefish, he produced countless national qualifiers, was named to multiple national team staffs and coached three-time Olympian Elizabeth Beisel.
I am super proud to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Villanova University. I am so grateful for my family, friends, and coaches who have gotten me to this point. Go wildcats! #Novanation
Last month, White competed at the US Open at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. White made it into finals in both of her events, finishing 20th in the 100 fly and 11th in the 200 fly. While she was off from her lifetime best in both events, she touched in 1:03.05 in the 100 and 2:16.06 in the 200. Her best time in both of those events comes from the Atlanta Classic held in May of 2021. There, she took 29th in the 100 fly in 1:02.35 and 10th in the 200 fly in 2:14.92.
Just two weeks after her swims at the US Open, White swam many of her lifetime bests at a short course meet in Massachusetts. There, she picked up new best times in both butterfly events (55.36/1:59.60). She also swam a new best in the 200 free (1:52.20), 500 free (5:03.83), 200 IM (2:06.41), and 400 IM (4:28.11).
Top SCY Times
- 100 free – 52.69
- 200 free – 1:52.20
- 500 free – 5:03.83
- 100 fly – 55.36
- 200 fly – 1:59.60
- 200 IM – 2:06.41
- 400 IM – 4:28.11
White is a big addition to the Wildcats program, with a 100 fly that would have been the team’s fastest last season and a 200 fly that would have been the team’s second-best. She would have also been a big contributor at the conference level as well, with her 100 fly having been fast enough to take 4th at the 2021 Big East Championships. Her 200 fly would have earned her 2nd behind current Villanova senior Kelly Montesi.
The Villanova women claimed the conference title last season ahead of runner-ups UConn. With their win, Villanova extended its streak to 8-straight Big-East Championship titles.
The Wildcats have started their 2021-22 season off strong this year, with Montesi having already taken down the program record in the 200 back. The senior finished in 1:54.95 while racing the event at the WVU Invitation in November. The program also had an athlete compete at the 2020 Olympic Games, with former Wildcat Summer Rappaport representing the United States in the triathlon.
