Buffalo’s Franz Doubles, Toledo’s Gutierrez Tops Platform At UB Diving Invite

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women’s dive team wrapped up day one of the UB Diving Invite on Friday afternoon. Day one of the invite showcased the 1-meter dive. Victoria Franz won the event as freshmen Marialis Kwak and Kaylee Donovan improved their season scores.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – University of Toledo freshman Kassie Gutierrez highlighted the Rockets on the final day of the UB Diving Invitational on Sunday, taking first overall on the platform.

“Overall I am really happy with this weekend,” head diving coach Gabby Agostino said, “I saw some great improvements.”

Gutierrez was the top-placing Rocket in the final event of the weekend, placing first with a new personal-best score of 223.60. Senior Joelle Gallais registered a 170.00 score for a fourth-place finish.

Toledo posted a 1-2 finish in the five-dive preliminary rounds respectively. Gallais scored a 180.85, while Gutierrez scored a 180.15.

“We have a few things to work on before conference but we are progressing in the right direction and I am excited to see what us to come,” Agostino said.

Toledo will be back in the pool for its next Mid-American Conference dual with Bowling Green on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 12:00 p.m.
