UNH Wins Senior Day Meet Against Stony Brook, Winning 10 of 13 Events

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women’s swimming and diving team earned a 149-74 victory against Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon at Swasey Pool on Senior Day.

The Wildcats won 10 of 13 events on the day in the victory against the Seawolves.

UNH honored the program’s four graduating seniors Cassidy Wilson (Toledo, Ohio), Ciara McCormack (Newton, Mass.), Cate Wardinski (Burke, Va.) and Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) in a ceremony prior to the start of the meet.

The ‘Cats group of Kiersten Donnelly (Pottstown, Pa.), Maddie Fritz (Lansdale, Pa.), Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.) and Wardinski won the 200-yard medley relay with a mark of 1:49.40.

Junior Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii) earned the top spot in the 1000 free with a time of 10:34.15, while Metzler registered a mark of 1:55.28 to take first place in the 200 free and the 200 IM (2:04.51) for the Wildcats. Lum also got the win in the 500 free at 5:07.43. Hannah Weatherby (Newtown, Conn.) finished in first-place in three-meter dive with 230.85.

Wardinski picked up the victory in the 50 free with a time of 24.57 and McKinney amassed a time of 57.87 in the 100 fly for the win. Chiara Pradissitto (Milan, Italy) earned the win in the 100 free (53.08), while Madison Lindstedt (Marion, Ohio) recorded a time of 1:00.85 for the gold.

The Wildcats return to action on Friday, January 28 at Maine. Meet time is 5 p.m. from the Stanley Wallace Pool.

DURHAM, N.H. – The Stony Brook women’s swimming and diving team picked up wins in two events in Durham, N.H. Despite a strong effort by Stony Brook, the Seawolves fell to the Wildcats, 149-74.

Senior Jessica Salmon earned a first-place finish in the 100 breast with a final time of 1:07.44. The Stony Brook 400 freestyle relay squad ended the night with a bang securing a first-place finish with a time of 3:57.83.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Sara DiStefano earned a first-place finish in the 1 meter diving with a final mark of 186.37.
  • Salmon secured a first-place finish in the 100 breast with a final time of 1:07.44. Briana Liew and Yurika Tomita finished closely behind in second and third touching the wall in 1:10.75 and 1:13.90, respectively.
  • The 400 freestyle relay comprised of Reagan MacDonaldEmma WaechterBrenna McLaughlin, and Liew ended the night with a bang for the Seawolves claiming a first-place finish with a final time of 3:57.83.

The Stony Brook women’s swimming and diving team is back in action on February 10-13, when they hit the road to compete in the America East championships in Worcester, Mass.
