Senior Kat Gagnon Commits to Campbell University with Team-Leading Times

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Voorhees, New Jersey native and high school senior Kat Gagnon has committed to join Campbell University next fall. Gagnon attends Eastern Regional High School in Voorhees and does her club swimming for South Jersey Aquatic Club, where she specializes in distance freestyle and backstroke. Campbell University is a Division I school in Buies Creek, North Carolina, roughly 30 miles south of Raleigh.

At the 2021 Mid Atlantic Senior Champs last April, Gagnon scored in the A final of the 500, 1000 and 1650 free, setting new lifetime bests in both. She also scored in the B final of the 200 free and 200 back, helping SJAC finish in second place in the women’s meet behind the Suburban Seahawks.

Gagnon’s lifetime bests include:

  • 200 free: 1:55.39
  • 500 free: 5:00.05
  • 1000 free: 10:19.78
  • 1650 free: 17:04.02
  • 100 back: 59.56
  • 200 back: 2:04.50

Gagnon projects to make a massive impact for the Camels when she arrives on campus in the fall. Her best time in the 500 and 1650 are both faster than Campbell’s top swimmer from last year, while her 200 back would have placed her third on the team a year ago. She is less than three seconds away from the Campbell school record in the 500 free and 17 seconds off in the 1650.

At last year’s CCSA Championships, Gagnon’s lifetime bests would have qualified her for the B final in the 500 free and 200 back, while her 1650 would have placed her 7th in the conference. The Liberty University Flames won the CCSA women’s team title with 1566 points last season, while Campbell finished in 6th with 690 points.

Gagnon joins a sizable recruiting class for the Camels, joining public commits Sarah Pauley, Lauren McLean, Abby Lederer, Aleigha Scherber, Brooklyn Kaster, Abi Fortner and Arabella Butera in Campbell’s class of 2026.
