UGA Adds Reilly McCabe to Freshman Class of 2022

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

A multiple-time Florida high school state finalist, Reilly McCabe has announced that she has decided to become a Bulldog this fall, committing to swim at the University of Georgia. McCabe is from Saint Augustine, Florida where she swims for the Saint Augustine Cyclones and attends Bartram Trail High School.

“I am so thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Georgia! I am for my family, friends, and coaches who have helped me along the way.I can’t wait to be part of this amazing program. GO DAWGS!!!”

Swimming for her high school, McCabe has been a finalist in at least one event during all four years of her high school career. As a freshman, she represented Tocoi Creek High School at the FHSAA 3A State Championships in both the 50 free and 100 back. She made it into the A-final of the 50, taking 6th with a finals time of 24.35. She also added a B-finals appearance in the backstroke (1:01.91). After transitioning to Bartram Trail High School in her sophomore year, she steadily climbed the rankings in Class 4A. As a senior last November, she took 7th in the 50 free (23.59) and 6th in the 100 free (51.85) at the State Championship meet.

McCabe’s most recent competition came in November when she competed at the Winter Junior Championships-East. She contested both the 50 and 100 freestyles at the meet, finishing in 23.76 in the 50 and 52.02 in the 100.

McCabe will be joining a Georgia team that already has three women under 23.0 in the 50 free going into the 2022 SEC Championships. While the team is led by 5th year Gabi Fa’amausili in both sprint events, the Bulldogs have a strong contingent of underclassmen right behind her. So far this year, sophomore Maxine Parker is the program’s second-fastest performer in both the 50 free (22.42) and 100 free (49.24). Freshman Eboni McCarty has also been impressive, having gone 49.89 in the 100 free in a dual meet with Tennessee.

UGA is coming off of a season that saw the women take 3rd at the 2021 SEC Championships and 8th at the 2021 NCAA Championships. At the 2021 conference meet, it took 22.72/49.27 to earn second swims in the sprint freestyle events.

When she arrives on campus next fall, McCabe will help to bolster a team that has nearly a third of it’s roster listed as either seniors or 5th years this season. Joining her in UGA’s class of 2026 will be Elizabeth Isakson, Emma Norton, Heidi Stalkfleet, Morgan Razewski, Olivia Della Torre, and Allison Damron. Of those, Damron holds times nearly identical to McCabe in both the 50 and 100 freestyles.
