Season highs and podium finishes abounded for the Flames, as the host team dominated the UIC Diving Invitational on Saturday.

Cydney Liebenberg won the 1-meter and 3-meter events.  Felix Lafortune nearly gave the Flames a clean sweep, taking first in the 3-meter and second in the 1-meter.  Cole Tremewan finished right behind Lafortune in both events.  Ciara McCliment was second on the 3-meter board.

Liebenberg scored 309.00 in the 1-meter event, and 324.30 in the 3-meter.  Both of those scores were season highs, and they gave her a total of 11 NCAA Zone-qualifying scores on the season.  She has finished first on the 1-meter board in six of seven meets this season, and has five first-place showings on the 3-meter board.

McCliment’s scores of 304.80 in 3-meter and 272.55 in 1-meter were both season highs.  She posted her first Zone cut on the 1-meter board.  Having already achieved a Zone score in 3-meter, she eclipsed her previous high score by over 10 points and claimed second place.

Gabby Richards also turned in two season high scores.  She posted a 208.35 on 1-meter and a 236.95 on 3-meter.

Lafortune was coming off a program record performance in 3-meter, and while his score of 373.85 was well off his new record, it was also his second-highest score of the season by nearly the same margin.  His win in 3-meter was his fifth of the season.  He scored 317.60 in taking second in 1-meter.

Tremewan eclipsed 300 points in 1-meter diving for the second time of his freshman campaign, posting a total of 311.55 to set a season high and take third place.  Combined with his score of 318.20 in 3-meter, which was good for second place, he had his best combined performance of the season.

Hunter Trautmann set a career high on the 1-meter board.  His score was 248.40.  He scored 207.40 in the 1-meter event.

Divers from Illinois, Chicago, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Eau Claire, Carthage, and Lake Forest combined for a field of over 20 female divers and upwards of 18 male competitors.  Team scores were not kept.  The Flames will next compete at the Horizon League Championships, beginning February 16.*

*SwimSwam note: UIC was expelled from competing at the Horizon League Championships on Feb. 9.
