Records Continue To Fall On Day 2 of 2022 Conference Carolina Championships

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The second day of the 2022 Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships at the Kingsport Aquatic Center saw records continue to fall.

The finals on Thursday started with UNC Pembroke’s Gillian Manning setting the new conference championship mark in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.55. The conference championship records would continue to fall in the women’s 200 IM with Susana Ungo of Emmanuel setting the new standard with a time of 2:05.95. The women’s 50 yard freestyle would also feature a new conference championship standard with Kleanza Cathers of Barton posting a time of 23.57.

The second day would close with both the women’s and men’s 200 yard freestyle relays featuring new conference championship standards. The Barton foursome of Cathers, Megan Schueller, Addy Nemitz and Riley Byers posted the new top mark in the women’s 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.59. The new men’s championship standard would be set next with Joao Santos, Anton Akopian, Mykhailo Semenov and Thiago Rosa posting a time of 1:21.42 in the men’s 200 yard freestyle relay.

Emmanuel leads both the men’s and women’s standings at the 2022 Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships after the first two days.

The third day of the scheduled four-day Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships are slated for Friday, Feb. 17. The preliminaries will get underway at 10 a.m. on Thursday with the finals scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Conference Carolinas will also stream the senior festivities live at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18.

The preliminaries and finals each day will be streamed live on the Conference Carolinas Digital Network at ConferenceCarolinasDN.com. Commentary will be provided for the finals each day, but the preliminaries will just be video with no sound.
